15. Abandoned House of the Communist Party (Bulgaria):
This building was tucked away in the Balkan Mountains. Upon entering, there’s a description that reads, “On your feet, despised comrades! On your feet you slaves of labor! Downtrodden and humiliated, stand up against the enemy!”

Due to Peru’s very dry climate, the remains of many people have been preserved on these ancient burial grounds.

This cemetery has experienced so much overcrowding since 1478, that there are now 12 layers of graves stacked atop one another. Although there are over 100,000 people that have been buried here, only 12,000 tombstones are actually visible.

Also known as the Church of Bones, this cathedral contains more than 40,000 human remains of people who desired to be buried in a holy place.
7. St. George’s Church (Czech Republic):
This eerie looking sanctuary of a church was abandoned after a roof collapsed during a funeral in 1968. The sculptures that you see were the work of Jakub Hadrava who hoped to keep the church running as a tourist attraction. Still, it’s so haunting.

This entire island was quarantined from 1793-1814 for 160,000+ people with the plague. All across the island you can find massive graves. From 1922-1968, the island was also used to house a psychiatric hospital that had a doctor who was rumored to torture and kill many of its patients.

These bizarre and scary caves contain the remains of about 14 people, some including children! It’s believed that they were victims used for Mayan sacrifices. There is even an entire skeleton, believed to had been an 18 year old girl, that has calcified throughout the years.
