This Story begins when 36-year-old Liz Joice’s treatment for a rare cancer caused her body to go into an early menopause, doctors told her she was likely infertile. But miraculously, she and her husband, Max, conceived a baby girl against the odds.
Unfortunately, the couple was told shortly into the pregnancy that a tumor in her spine had returned, they were both heart-broken of the news.
An MRI was needed to determine whether other tumors were present, but in order to have the MRI Liz would have to terminate her pregnancy. She refused.
“She said, ‘If we terminate the pregnancy and it turns out I can’t have a baby [later], I’ll be devastated.’ She knew this might be her only chance,” Max explained to the New York Post last year.
Beautiful Baby Lily was safely delivered at 34 weeks.
Liz, unfortunately, succumbed to the disease just seven weeks later.
But because of Liz’s appearance in Christopher Henze’s documentary, “40 Weeks,” Lily — who is now one-year-old — can hear her mother’s voice at the touch of a screen.
After she passed, Henze created a video that intermixes video clips of Liz with other popular children’s TV shows. Henze explained:
“Our plan is to keep crafting pieces to allow Lily more and more access as she’s mature enough to handle the story of mom.”
When Lily is older, she will have the privilege of watching a heartfelt video that her mother created shortly before her death, she truly loved her and will be watching out for her for the rest of Lily’s life from heaven.
In the video, she speaks poignantly to her young daughter:
“Regardless of whatever happens to me, going through this to bring you here is always going to be worth it, no question. I don’t want that to be hard on you.
I just want you to know how important you are . . . and try to be like me and not have anger. You know you can be sad at things and you can be disappointed in things, but you’ve got to let anger go. It’s just one of the least productive emotions a person can ever have. It ruins you and nobody else but you.
Some people’s stories just don’t make any sense. That’s why I stopped trying to figure it out. You know, it is what it is, you just have to make the best out of it.”

Even though Lily was only able to spend seven weeks with her brave loved mother, Liz will be able instill lessons in her thanks to her videos, and her memory will continue to live on with her throughout her entire life.
We are heart broken to read the above news, knowing little Lily will ask questions and want to see her mother.. But thankfully this mother has dedicated the care of her baby little girl with the great idea which hopefully help Lily to be strong and have some element of her mother forever.
